Halo 2 + Modded Xbox + Xbox Live = banned

The “wonderful” people at Microsoft have “upgraded” the Xbox Live system just in time for the release of Halo 2. So now, if you modded your Xbox to use a larger hard drive and you get on Xbox Live, you get banned from the system.

I’m a software developer and a musician, so I’m no fan of piracy. But I’m less of a fan of these corporate assholes who don’t give a damn about the consumer’s rights or fair use.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to have a modded Xbox — especially for those unfortunate people who bought an early Xbox with the DVD drive that dies after about a year. Loading game data from the hard drive makes for a much better gaming experience. But the evil empire doesn’t care about the consumer. They just want to make the cake.
